[Jan. 21st] Systems Biology of Liver Cancer sponsored by the Modhep (Modelling Hepatocellular Carcinoma) Project

[DATE]

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

[HOUR]

10:00 - 18:00 (JST)

[Introduction]

Welcome to the Systems Biology of Liver Cancer Symposium. This symposium aims to gather leading researchers in liver cancer research both internationally and domestically in order to foster research exchange and dissemination of latest research results. The symposium will consist of presentations by the Modhep project members and talks by guest speakers. The talks will focus on different issues related to liver cancer and liver disease in general, such as biomarkers, liver cancer genome sequencing, immunology, epigenetics etc.

Registration required. For details, please see the Registration section. The registration has been closed. For inquires, please contact "Modhep-sec■riken.jp (replace ■ to @)".

[About Modhep]

MODHEP (MODelling HEPatocellular Carcinoma) is a EU-funded project (12M€) which gathers 17 organizations from 8 worldwide countries specialized in the field of liver cancer.

The general objective of this 5 year-long project is to produce and disseminate the results of a holistic, systems biology-based approach providing an integrated understanding of the multi-layered molecular alterations that drive a complex disease such as cancer. This will pave the way for the development of innovative therapies.

MODHEP concept is about the generation of genome-wide datasets from homogeneous cell populations in the experimental mouse models and on clinical samples as well as a systems-based model network that integrates all the data acquired experimentally. The final objective is to assess the validity of the main features of this model network in the human disease.

Concept of MODHEP
  • generate genome-wide datasets from homogeneous cell populations in the experimental mouse models, and in part on clinical samples;
  • generate a systems-based model network that integrates all the data acquired experimentally;
  • assess the validity of the main features of this model network in the human disease.
